We have library tomorrow. The pillars of care assembly is this Friday morning. All grade six classes will be writing a science unit test on trees and forests on Friday. We are going to write a quiz on chapters 1-6 of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe next Tuesday. Our next computation / basic facts quiz is next week, probably on Wednesday. The Reading... Give It a Shot program is still going on so make sure to return reading logs in exchange for hockey cards.
Morning recap:
This morning after music, we did a reading comprehension assessment. We did one last month and this one looked very similar. We read a text about trees and forests and then answered questions about it. The answers to some of the questions could be found in the text but others required us to make connections to previous learning. When we finished the reading assessment, we wrote in our journals about yesterday's field trip. During math, we had some time to finish our equivalent fractions booklets. If they did not get done, the last page came home for homework and is due by Friday. We took a break to go to gym and then continued with math. We took notes on the types of fractions (proper, improper, and mixed) and learned the steps for converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions. We did a few practice questions as a class today and will keep working on this skill for the next little while.
