Thursday, November 28

Messages and Reminders:
The pillars of care assembly is tomorrow. All grade six classes will be writing a science unit test on trees and forests tomorrow. We are going to write a quiz on chapters 1-6 of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe next Tuesday. Our next computation / basic facts quiz is next week, probably on Wednesday. The Reading... Give It a Shot program is still going on so make sure to return reading logs in exchange for hockey cards.

Morning recap:
This morning after ignite, we did 3 question mini-quiz on fractions before grabbing a laptop for Mathletics. During buddies, we listened to a story called Chrysanthemum. It is about a girl named Chrysanthemum who loves her name until kids at school start teasing her about being named after a flower and having so many letters in her name. Then a new teacher shares that she also has a long name and is named after a flower and Chrysanthemum realizes her name is great after all. After the story, we worked with our buddies to create a page of fractions about each of our names. Here is an example.

When we got back to class, we did some discussions questions for chapters 5 and 6 of LWW and then ended the morning with gym and library.

Upcoming important dates:
Friday, November 29 - pillars of care assembly
Friday, November 29 - science unit test
Tuesday, December 3 - LWW chapter 1-6 quiz
Wednesday, December 4 - computation / basic facts quiz
